Oh, thanks. They're both drawn with vine charcoal and compressed charcoal pencil. I did these a few years ago but I'm pretty sure I toned the paper (newsprint) with vine charcoal and them I did the line drawing with compressed charcoal pencil. Needed eraser to pull out the highlights and compressed charcoal pencil to darken up areas of shadow.

It's a bit of work, but it's worth it if you consider what you learn from doing it. Yes, these were both drawn during a figure drawing session that was focused on hands.
